strategicplanningMD

What started as a simple idea has fueled a suite of strategy
applications that is transforming healthcare organizations

In late 2009, we embarked on a very simple quest: Build an online application that would allow us to automate and virtually manage the strategic planning process for our clients. The project had a codename – SP4 – and it was simple in its design and navigation. Twice, nearing the completion of the project, we tore down the application and started anew, adding more functionality and more tools until, on July 5, 2010, we launched strategicplanningMD.

It was a single application based on best-of-breed methods and tools that allowed healthcare organizations to manage the entire strategic planning lifecycle online. The early adopters were many: Mississippi Baptist Health Systems (Jackson, MS), Anderson Regional Medical Center (Meridian, MS), Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare (Memphis, TN), UF&Shands (Gainesville, FL), DCH Health System (Tuscaloosa, AL), Downey Regional Medical Center (Downey, CA), and Bassett Healthcare Network (Cooperstown, NY), to name just a few.

Version 2.0 was released on October 4, 2010, which added a full complement of dashboards, as well as additional tools and functionality. Shortly thereafter, we envisioned a suite of four additional applications, all integrated, that would truly revolutionize healthcare strategic planning and quality management. Starting from ground zero, we completely overhauled strategicplanningMD, converting a once stand-alone web-based software product into the most robust suite of strategic planning and quality management applications to be found anywhere.

On May 2, 2011, Version 3.0 was released, which completed the rapid evolution of strategicplanningMD from product to portal, providing access to a full suite of strategic planning, decision support, and quality management applications.

But that date did not mark the end of our journey. Rather, it established a new beginning, as it provided us with the foundation and framework to build and create additional applications that can each easily stand on their own, but are also integrated seamlessly into one another. To that end, we will continue to be a leading innovator in web-based applications that will enable healthcare organizations to make better decisions, create more robust strategies, drive ongoing improvement, and become more competitive.
